MISSION
As a media-based organization,
PAJ believes it should maintain its relative “objectivity,”
while still pursue its advocacy towards sustainable development
and an agriculture-based development strategy
by encouraging debates and critical reportage
on issues affecting agriculture, the environment
and the agrarian reform sectors.
PAJ aims to serve as a catalyst
in the process of debates and consensus-building,
whereby people are informed of facts,
trends and opposing views on issues.
Rather than get bogged down
in the futile “zero-sum game” of squabbling over a small pie,
PAJ will focus on issues which would help increase
the economic pie that should fairly be distributed
to the less-privileged farmers and fishermen.
VISION
PAJ envisions the broad agriculture sector,
including the environment and agrarian sectors,
to take center stage in the thrust towards sustained development.
Since much of the agricultural backwardness
due to poor technology and access to resources
and the unfavorable policy environment
can be traced to ignorance and lack information,
PAJ believes it can contribute much in this direction
by taking an advocacy towards policy reforms.
